Welcome to Calvary

Los Banos is a community of about 30,000 located on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley between Fresno and San Jose. Many commuters to the surrounding cities locate their families here and make the drive to work every day.
You can contact our office at 826-3682 or worship with us on Sundays at 8:30am or 11am. You can also contact us by email at cbclosbanos@sbcglobal.net.
What Makes Us Special
At Calvary Baptist Church you'll find people committed to Christ and His teachings. Calvary helps people realize how special life is and how the Bible gives encouragement to be all we can be. In a relatively relaxed and informal atmosphere, Calvary's stated goal is to share the Good News of Jesus one person at a time. And through our missions giving program, Calvary maintains an active role in national and international missions.

What We Wholeheartedly Believe
The Scriptures
The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is the focus of divine revelation.
God
There is one and only one living and true God. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Man
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race.
Salvation
Salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
The Church
A New Testament church is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord.
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It symbolizes the believer's faith in a risen Savior, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to newness of life in Christ Jesus. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act whereby the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer.
Evangelism and Missions
It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations.
Stewardship
Christians are under obligation to serve God with their time, talents, and material possessions. Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully, regularly, proportionately, and liberally for the advancement of the Redeemer's cause on earth.
Social Order
Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. Christians should provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick, and contend for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
Religious Liberty
Church and state should be separate. The state owes to every church protection and full freedom in the pursuit of its spiritual ends. Civil government is ordained of God.
The Family
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people.
Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.
Guidelines for Communion
Calvary Baptist Church welcomes all people to attend both regular Worship Services and for believers to participate in our monthly observance of the Lord’s Supper. We practice what is known as closed communion, meaning that in keeping with the practice of historic orthodox Christianity and based upon considerations listed below, participation in the ordinance of The Lord's Supper is limited, and not open to all.We welcome to the Lord's Table:
- Those who are truly repentant of their sins, who demonstrate their forgiveness by forgiving others as they have been forgiven, and who pledge to discipline their lives with the aid of the Holy Spirit through worship, the study of God's Word, and service borne from a grateful heart
- Those who truly believe in Christ, relying solely on Him as their Savior from sin; “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
- Those who have publicly professed their faith by believer’s baptism; “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:10
- Those who are of the age of individual accountability who are able to examine themselves regarding the above considerations. “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23-24
Calvary observes Communion every first Sunday of each month.

Uplifting Flash Movies and More
One of our more technologically advanced missions agencies, the North American Missions Board (NAMB), has produced several online videos and flash animations in cooperation with the American Tract Society (ATS), to help in sharing the Good News via email through the internet. To take advantage of these and many other wonderful tools for touching the lives of those you love, go to CyberTracts.net. NAMB has also created animated presentations for kids at kidzplace.org.
Other ministries have also seen the value of online multimedia productions and you may want to check out their presentations as well. I’ve listed many of them for you below.
